Welcome! I am a queer (LGBTQIA+) contemplative spiritual director in Charlotte, North Carolina, who delights in offering an affirming space to people of all identities. I have the privilege of sitting with people, providing a nonjudgmental and calming space, and listening to where the Divine is at work in their lives. It is my honor to allow you the safety and compassion that you need so you can explore your spiritual journey.

My Services

  • Your journey with God started long before you had the words to express it, and it continues. And so, how do you respond?

    A spiritual director is a nonjudgmental listener who is here to support you and your relationship with the Divine. Together we listen, and then we ask, "Where is the Divine in all of this?"

    Spiritual direction is a practice that will help you deepen and expand your prayer life; and while prayer is at the center of what we do, you do not have to have a current prayer practice to benefit from spiritual direction.

    Spiritual direction is perfect for people who are interested in exploring their inner spirituality.

  • Spiritual direction is a practice in which your director is fully present with you and listens for the nudges of the Holy in your life. All aspects of our lives are spiritual, and so there are no topics that are off the table with me.

    Contemplative prayer is a key component of spiritual direction. With the spiritual seekers I see, we open and close each session with silent prayer.

    God is as close as our very breaths. God is with and for us. God is with and for you.

  • Do you find some of your best insights in group settings? Do you crave spiritual community where you can be real and authentic?

    Group spiritual direction is a practice of listening for the Divine in community. Also known as a sacred listening circle, group spiritual direction is a process of sitting with 4-6 others and being present for each other. As each person shares what is true for them, we all listen for the wisdom in their journey.

    I am starting spiritual direction groups specifically for folks in the LGBTQIA+ community. Contact me to learn more.

  • When finding a spiritual companion, fit is important, so please contact me for an initial appointment to see if we are a good match. I can also answer any questions you may have about contemplative spiritual direction at that time.

I Am

I’m Amanda (she/her). I am a queer, contemplative Christian living in Charlotte, North Carolina.

My faith background is in the Episcopal Church, and I am open to working with people of all faiths and belief systems, or none at all. I respect all expressions of faith and will take your lead on how to address the Divine in a way that most speaks to you.

My training is through the Shalem Institute’s Spiritual Guidance Program, and I have been offering spiritual direction since 2020.

I am drawn to the intersections of Christianity and queerness, so I am writing a book called Contemplative Queerness about how those two experiences can be mutually influencing.
